Description

My poster examines three types of female characters in the world of comics and discusses their feminist or anti-feminist nature from a literary standpoint. Using analysis of female characters in comic book fiction, I go on to explore the gender bias that exists within the publishing houses and end by discussing why it is that comics are made inaccessible to women and girls. Through interviews and field notes I determined where sexism exists off the page in the world of comics. This project is ongoing and will hopefully culminate in a solution to sexism in fringe culture.
