Location

Description

“Julia in my Car” is a 36” x 36” oil painting on canvas. It was completed in 2012 and is intended to not only be a representation of Julia but a depiction of common teenage angst. I was inspired by the artist, Alex Katz, whose close up paintings of heads are well known. Although Mr. Katz’s work is produced in a completely different style I was moved by the intensity of his subjects. / Mr. Katz paints in flat intense colors with no blending. I, however, find that the movement and mixture of wet paint on the canvas is an integral part of the enjoyment I experience from my art. For me, the pure pleasure of seeing an image come to life as I work on it is unequaled.
