Description
Steel Rod, wire, tulle, yarn, nails, plaster, plaster bandages, chicken wire, shoes, wood, paint. 2014 25" x 32" x 54". "Nightmares" was inspired by my dog, Bella. The piece tells a story of her dreams. The hand is meant to be an invitation. The colored string is attractive and the billowing black tulle is dangerous; a nightmare of sorts. The goal of the piece was to capture her nightmare in a story. The dog was made from chicken wire and plastic bandages and then painted. The shoes on the dog represents Bella's playful nature and her carefree attitude. The hand is a mold of my own. I placed the hand and the nails into the plaster before it finished setting. I then wrapped colorful string around the nails to make a web. Next, I welded an A-frame to support the piece. The billowing tulle was attached to the plaster circle by wood and wire.
