In July of 2010, I began an internship at the Arts Council of New Orleans (Appendix 1). Working within the Council's Marketing Department, I focused on developing the new Arts Council website, The Arts Council of New Orleans is a private, non-profit organization designated as the City's official arts agency and serves as one of nine regional distributing agencies for state arts funds. The Arts Council administers available municipal arts grants and the Percent For Art program for the City of New Orleans. Its partnership with the City of New Orleans, community groups, local, state, and national governmental agencies, and other nonprofit arts organizations enables the Council to meet the arts and cultural needs of the New Orleans community through a diversity of initiatives and services. The following report includes an overview of the organization, a description of my role as an intern within the Marketing Department, my analysis of the organization and my recommendations for the organization that I have developed over the course of my tenure at the Arts Council.
