Description

The purpose of my oral presentation is to provide information and background about the significance of the emergence of African American political scientists in the discipline. I will examine the lives of several political scientists including Dr. Mack Jones and Dr. Jewel Prestage to demonstrate the contribution that Black political scientists have made to the field. I will also examine the subfield of Black Politics and its relevance to Political Science. My presentation will also examine the decrease of African-American students pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees in the discipline, and it will present several affective ways to increase recruitment and retention.
