English is highly relevant in Korean popular culture, though it is not unilaterally viewed by South Koreans as a “good” element in their culture. Even so, Koreans use English to impart different connotations in various media in the Korean Wave, such as dramas, short serial soap operas. The presence of English in these dramas represents values and stereotypes present in the minds of many Koreans about their own culture.
