Description
Compost was collected from the main kitchens on campus, and the kitchen at Carmel Inn. There are three main compost piles on the farm: pile A for campus, pile B for Carmel Inn, and pile C, with everything added to it categorized, weighed and documented. Additions to this pile were placed into one of eight categories: Citrus, Greens, Colors, Alliums, Carbon, Coffee and Tea, Mushrooms, and Eggshells. Labeled 5 gallon buckets were used for each category, and a fishing scale was used to weigh each bucket. The soil sampling will be done to develop a formula for future University compost.
