This section will describe a range of topics from the use of wave data to assess an evolving series of wave components to long-term issues such as how increases in mean sea level may be related to the occurrence of extreme wave conditions. Participants will describe how wave data are used to assess the skill of models, create important statistics, and improve forecasts. The following extended abstracts and presentation relate to data quality control and the increasing demand for reliable information on wave conditions, particularly at coastal sites, worldwide.
