Abstract
Tache Noire is a collection of poetry heavily influenced by Romanticism, Gothic literature, and French Decadence. Saturated with dark and grotesque imagery yet rich in musicality, these poems create an aesthetic experience in which the senses often conflict with one another. These poems are atmospheric, often exploring the notion of “place,” especially in relation to New Orleans. The subjects of Tache Noire range from death and mutilation to love and art.
