Abstract
Abstract
Unusual Percussion explores concepts of the body, family, interpersonal relationships, mental disorders, otherness, death, place, and the elements. The preface lists several influences: Tarfia Faizullah, Olivia Gatwood, and Sylvia Plath. Through extended metaphor, persona, bizarre imagery and diction, and narrative, the poetry strives to tell relatable stories.
