Abstract
Steeped in exquisite imagery and allusions inspired by Greek mythology and landscapes of the South, the poems in Out from the Weirdish Wild delve into the experiences of an Autistic woman, as well as other women from history and mythology. The collection discusses sexual violence, grief, weirdness, belonging, and clinical and colloquial language used within the Autistic community. Narrative and lyric poems are represented in a range of structures from formal to experimental (sonnet, terza rima, cento, contrapuntal, open form, concrete, free verse, etc), and the collection is primarily post-confessional.
