Abstract
This film is an exploration of episodic, mini-series production in the streaming age of the film industry. From the earliest stages of pre-production to the latest phases of post-production, The Heckler: Frank provides academic insights into comedy, improvisation, stand-up and capturing the zeitgeist, cultural and psychological phenomena associated with singular amateur performers and resistance to doing so. Filmed in New Orleans starring amateur local comedians at a local venue where an actual open-mic show takes place, the film is a rare insight into the realities of being an open-mic comedian in New Orleans in 2024.
