Description
During the Summer of 2012, nine students led by Dr. Ryan Gray and Andrea White conducted excavations at the Iberville Housing Projects in New Orleans, Louisiana. The goal of excavation was to recover data pertaining to Storyville, New Orleans’ famous red-light district, but the material found also offers a unique possibility for independent trade networks practiced by early residents of the city. The goal of this presentation is to both supplement the existing historical record and to offer insight into lives of people who occupied the area infamously known as Storyville.
